Why should I choose Organisational Psychology?
An Organisational Psychology degree is useful for anyone who wishes to prepare for a career in dealing with people.
Over the last decade, employers have increasingly started recognising the value of Organisational Psychology. In today’s world, in which change is fast, practitioners are in demand as change managers, but the skills learned in Organisational Psychology are also relevant to inform the future of work. With technology based on artificial intelligence expected to take over many of the tasks currently performed by humans, individuals with a background in Organisational Psychology can provide insights on how best to manage the interface between humans and machines.
A qualification from this section will prepare you to work in any size or type of organisation and in any employment section in any country.
What are the options if I want to get an undergraduate degree in Organisational Psychology?
When considering your options for an undergraduate degree in organisational psychology it's important to look at all the available degrees that you can choose from. Organisational Psychology is offered through both the Humanities and Commerce Faculty.
It is important to note, that regardless of the Faculty within which you are registered, students register for the same courses.
The Faculty of Commerce
Students wanting to pair Organisational Psychology with foundational business practices may choose to register for a:
• Bachelor of Business Science, specialising in Organisational Psychology [CB024BUS08]
Unlike the Humanities degree below the Business Science Degree has a set curriculum over 4-years (the fourth year includes your Honours year). Students complete courses in areas such as Economics, Maths, Statistics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Ethics, Project Management, and Professional Communication, to name a few. These courses paired with the Organisational Psychology provide a solid business-focussed degree with Organisational Psychology as a specialisation. (Students can choose to do this as a five-year advanced degree).
Students wanting flexibility in the degree or those who are unable to gain entry into the Commerce Faculty can take Organisational Psychology as a major in their Humanities degree. Organisational Psychology can be chosen as part of the following degree structures in the Humanities Faculty:
• Bachelor of Social Sciences
For the Bachelor of Social Sciences, students will need to choose a second Humanities major to accompany their choice of Organisational Psychology. To be awarded a major in Organisational Psychology students will need to successfully pass all of the necessary undergraduate courses. Generally, these degree structures enable students to choose one or two elective courses presented by other departments in the Humanities Faculty.
